Xabi Alonso battles Real Madrid for Enzo Fernandez's future

🇪🇸

Xabi Alonso, set to become Chelsea’s head coach next season, is determined to block Real Madrid’s bid for Argentine midfielder Enzo Fernandez. The Spanish giants, already active in the ongoing transfer window, are prepared to sell Eduardo Camavinga for €60 million while eyeing Fernandez as a key target.

Real Madrid have identified Enzo Fernandez as their top midfield priority, with José Mourinho viewing him as an upgrade over Camavinga. The club’s scouting also includes Michael Olise as a potential Galáctico signing, adding to the four players already secured this window.

According to Miguel Serrano, Alonso is not keen on allowing the Spaniards to acquire Fernandez. He plans to integrate the Argentine into Chelsea’s rebuild at Stamford Bridge as his first major signing.

Enzo Fernandez has featured in 169 competitive matches for Chelsea since joining the Blues. His versatility allows him to operate across central midfield, making him a cornerstone of the team.

At the World Cup, Fernandez delivered a standout display in Argentina’s 4‑0 victory over Algeria, a match where Lionel Messi scored a hat‑trick. His energy, passing range and tempo‑setting ability helped Argentina reach the Round of 32 and set up a knockout clash with Cabo Verde.

If Alonso succeeds in retaining Fernandez, Chelsea will secure a proven midfielder for the upcoming season. Conversely, Real Madrid may need to pursue alternative options should the transfer fall through.
