Porto and two clubs eye PSV defender Mauro Júnior
Porto and two other Champions League clubs are tracking PSV left-back Mauro Júnior this summer. The Brazilian defender has drawn interest from multiple European sides.
PSV confirmed Júnior’s contract runs until 2026, but his squad role remains under review. Club technical director John de Jong reiterated the club’s need to balance squad depth and financial strategy.
Júnior, 24, featured 28 times for PSV last season in Eredivisie and Champions League. His versatility allows deployment at left-back or wing-back. Porto’s sporting director Luís Campos is known to prioritize young, high-potential defenders.
A rival Eredivisie club is also monitoring Júnior’s situation. PSV’s asking price is reported to exceed €20 million. The club has not yet received formal bids.
Final bids could arrive before the August 1 deadline. Porto’s pursuit aligns with their Champions League qualification target.
