Tottenham’s wide man gamble: Savinho as De Zerbi’s new North London weapon
Tottenham Hotspur have identified Manchester City winger Savinho as their main target for this transfer window. Journalist Ben Jacobs revealed the club’s primary focus in a recent interview. “Their primary focus is Savinho,” Jacobs said. “Let’s see whether the Man City board choose to sanction that deal or not.”
Savinho’s lack of regular game time at Manchester City has been a recurring issue. The 22-year-old Brazilian managed four goals and three assists in 36 appearances for the club last season. His contributions came primarily in the final third, where he occasionally caught the eye despite limited minutes.
The Brazilian’s contract at the Etihad Stadium runs until the summer of 2031. This long-term deal could complicate Tottenham’s pursuit, making an immediate move more challenging. Spurs would face a significant financial outlay to secure his services before his contract expires.
Savinho’s profile aligns with Tottenham’s needs under manager Roberto De Zerbi. The winger is a strong dribbler with sharp vision, capable of creating chances for teammates. His pace and long-range shooting ability add further dimensions to his game.
Primarily deployed as a left-winger, Savinho can also operate on the right. His familiarity with the Premier League would ease any transition to North London. De Zerbi could integrate him quickly into the first XI if the deal materialises.
At 22, Savinho represents a long-term investment for Tottenham. His potential to develop into a star in English football remains a key factor in the club’s interest. The transfer window offers Spurs a chance to secure a talent with significant upside.
