Brian Brobbey credits van Nistelrooij for sharpening goal instincts

In a morning session at the Dutch national team camp, 24‑year‑old striker Brian Brobbey explained that he works closely with former international Ruud van Nistelrooij to sharpen his positioning and finishing ahead of the World Cup. He noted that after starting his first World Cup match he was twice on target within twenty minutes against Sweden. Van Nistelrooij is part of Ronald Koeman’s coaching staff and focuses on the attacking players. His role includes analysing forwards’ movements and advising on optimal positioning in the final third. “We often review match footage together, looking at what I do well and what I can improve,” Brobbey told . “After training sessions we also spend a lot of time working on these details.” The sessions concentrate on how Brobbey should position himself for the goal, especially when teammate Denzel delivers the ball. They examine the angles and timing required to maximise scoring chances. In the second group match, Brobbey started in the lineup for the first time in this World Cup and within twenty minutes recorded two shots on target against Sweden. The quick impact demonstrated the effectiveness of the targeted coaching. In the final group game versus Tunisia, he opened the scoring in the seventh minute, confirming his growing influence in the attacking third. “Every player wants to play at a World Cup and show what they can do,” the former Ajax striker said. “I am proud to be here, I want to be important with my play, and I want to win the World Cup.”
