Roma target Tresoldi as Malen backup while Dovbyk exit looms

🇮🇹
AS Roma look to reinforce their attack, they have placed Club Brugge forward Nicolò Tresoldi at the top of their shortlist as a backup for star striker Donyell Malen. The 21‑year‑old Germany U21 international has recorded 23 goals and nine assists in 53 games for Brugge. Gian Piero Gasperini has placed Tresoldi at the top of his shortlist for Roma, with Sassuolo forward Andrea Pinamonti and Nantes forward Matthis Abline also linked to the Olimpico. The Dutchman Donyell Malen remains the primary striker the club hopes to support. Tresoldi is coming off a coming‑of‑age debut season with Club Brugge. He recorded 23 goals and nine assists in 53 appearances across all competitions. Any move for Tresoldi will hinge on whether Roma can move on Artem Dovbyk. Dovbyk is expected to transfer to Genoa, clearing space for a new forward. Roma are inclined to take the 21‑year‑old initially on loan. Club Brugge value the German‑Italian forward at €25 million. Although he has represented Germany at youth level, Tresoldi remains eligible to play for Italy. His potential arrival could provide the Italian national team with fresh attacking options. If Tresoldi joins Roma, Donyell Malen could be deployed wider to accommodate another striker centrally. Such a tactical shift would lessen the burden on Malen and diversify Roma’s attack.
