Hull City’s Premier League push hinges on Meunier signing

🇫🇷

Hull City FC, newly promoted to the Premier League, are in advanced negotiations to sign Belgian right‑back Thomas Meunier, who is keen on the move as his contract with LOSC Lille draws to a close. The 31‑year‑old international, currently at his third World Cup, could become Hull’s first Premier League signing.

Valencia have been explicitly named as interested in Meunier, but a Premier League club has also entered the race. Journalist Sacha Tavolieri Hull City is a possible new employer for the Belgian defender.

The Tigers, promoted to the Premier League for the coming season, aim to make a strong impact and are prepared to push for Meunier’s transfer. Hull have already contacted the player and talks are in an advanced stage.

Meunier himself prefers a move to Hull, and his contract with LOSC Lille is expiring, leaving him free to choose his next club. At Lille he recorded 81 appearances, four goals and four assists.

The Belgian international’s résumé includes spells at RE Virton, Club Brugge, Paris Saint‑Germain, Borussia Dortmund and Trabzonspor before joining Lille. A move to Hull would mark his first foray into English top‑flight football.

Hull would gain an experienced figure with recognised leadership qualities, attributes that are especially valuable in the Premier League. His experience across several European leagues could aid Hull’s adaptation.

The final destination remains undecided, and the club and player await the signing of a new contract. The outcome will determine whether Hull secures the seasoned Belgian defender.
