Monaco target Barcelona midfielder Bernardo for summer move
AS Monaco have opened talks with FC Barcelona over midfielder Bernardo Silva. The Ligue 1 club seeks reinforcements ahead of the new season.
Bernardo Silva has 18 months remaining on his FC Barcelona contract. Monaco’s sporting director, Paul Mitchell, initiated the approach this week.
Mitchell previously worked at FC Barcelona between 2017 and 2021 in a senior role. His return to the club as sporting director at Monaco adds weight to the pursuit.
Monaco have already signed defenders Fodé Ballo-Touré and Gabriel Milson this summer. The club has spent over €50 million on transfers in the last month.
Bernardo Silva scored 10 goals and provided 11 assists for FC Barcelona last season. His versatility allows him to play as a winger or attacking midfielder.
The move remains in preliminary stages with no formal offer tabled. Monaco aim to finalize a deal before the transfer window closes.
