AC Milan misses Champions League as Como qualifies for Europa

🇮🇹
AC Milan finished sixth in Serie A on the final day, missing Champions League qualification. Como secured their first-ever European spot with a 2-1 win over already relegated Frosinone. Both results were confirmed at the 38th matchday. Inter Milan won 2-1 at home against Empoli to claim the Serie A title. Roma finished fifth, securing Europa League qualification. Atalanta secured the final Champions League spot with a 3-2 victory over Sassuolo. AC Milan’s 3-1 loss to Sassuolo at home cost them a top-four finish. Their final points tally was 68, three behind Atalanta. Como finished seventh with 57 points, their highest-ever league finish. Como’s European debut comes after 113 years in Serie A. Their last top-flight campaign was in 2002-03. Under head coach Francesco Calzona, Como secured safety and European football in a single season. Empoli were relegated after a 1-0 defeat to Inter Milan. Frosinone finished bottom despite beating Como 2-1. Salernitana and Hellas Verona also suffered relegation. The final day saw four teams fighting for survival. Verona’s 1-1 draw with Cagliari confirmed their drop. Salernitana’s 3-2 loss to Napoli sealed their fate.
