Dortmund set to release Belgian winger Duranville

🇧🇪 4 June 2026

Borussia Dortmund intend to release former top prospect Julien Duranville (20) this summer. The German club is open to selling the Belgian but plans to include a buy-back clause in any transfer deal.

Duranville joined Dortmund in January 2023 from Anderlecht but has made limited first-team appearances since. The 20-year-old has featured in just three Bundesliga matches, with no goals or assists recorded.

The club’s decision follows a review of the squad’s future direction under new head coach Nuri Şahin. Duranville is among several young players who may leave as Dortmund prioritize experienced talent.

A buy-back clause would allow Dortmund to re-sign Duranville within a set period and predetermined fee. The clause is standard for clubs retaining control over high-potential players.

Duranville’s release comes amid financial constraints at Dortmund, limiting funds for new signings. The club’s focus remains on strengthening the squad while managing wage structures.

Duranville’s next destination remains uncertain. Clubs in Belgium, the Netherlands, and France are expected to show interest before the summer transfer window closes.
