Barcelona's chase for Jesse Bisiwu hits Brugge's high price
FC Barcelona continue to press for 18‑year‑old left winger Jesse Bisiwu, while Club Brugge insist on a very large transfer fee and the player has yet to extend his contract that runs until 30 June 2027. The Belgian, who saw limited minutes at the end of the season, remains a key prospect for both clubs.
He featured sparingly in the final weeks of the campaign, prompting Club Brugge, known as the Blauw & Zwart, to reiterate their demand for a very high transfer fee. The club also aims to avoid losing him on a free transfer in the final year of his deal.
Barcelona have long tracked foreign youngsters with high potential, and Bisiwu has been highlighted on their scouting radar for some time. The 18‑year‑old Belgian, of Ghanaian descent, is regarded as one of the most promising talents emerging from Club Brugge’s academy and enjoyed a strong reputation in Catalonia.
The Catalan giants reportedly submitted an initial offer for the winger, which Club Brugge rejected outright. The Belgian side remains firm at the negotiating table, refusing to lower their price expectations.
Bisiwu’s limited minutes included a brief cameo in the Youth League final against Real Madrid, where he entered the match late in stoppage time. That appearance did not alter his standing among European recruiters.
Scouts describe him as a modern winger: explosive, technically refined and comfortable in one‑on‑one situations. He excels when cutting inside from the left flank onto his right foot.
Despite the scarce playing time, Club Brugge still view him as a player with a high market value and significant development margin. The club believes his potential justifies the steep fee they are demanding.
Barcelona have not removed Bisiwu from their list, but the pursuit has shifted to a secondary priority as they explore other offensive prospects. With his contract running to June 2027, the winger’s future remains uncertain pending further talks.
