Ajax have confirmed the departure of striker Wout Weghorst (33) to FC Twente. The move ends Weghorst’s two-year spell at Ajax, where he made 68 appearances and scored 35 goals across all competitions. His final contribution for the Amsterdam side came during the World Cup break, with the club confirming the transfer on the same day he featured in Oranje’s group-stage fixture. Weghorst joined Ajax in 2022 from Burnley and quickly became a key figure in Erik ten Hag’s side before the Dutch coach’s departure. Since then, he has featured under Alfred Schreuder and John Heitinga, scoring 18 goals in his first season and 17 in his second.
