Dumfries completes move to Real Madrid via release clause
Dutch defender Denzel Dumfries will join Real Madrid after activating his €50m release clause. He has completed a medical in Madrid and is finalizing personal terms.
The 28-year-old completed the clause with Inter Milan’s consent. His transfer is pending official confirmation from Real Madrid, expected within 48 hours.
Dumfries joined Inter Milan in January 2021 from PSV Eindhoven. He made 150 appearances for the Nerazzurri, scoring 12 goals.
Real Madrid’s president Florentino Pérez confirmed the club’s interest in a right-back during a press conference last month. Dumfries becomes Carlo Ancelotti’s second summer signing after Kylian Mbappé.
The defender has 52 caps for the Netherlands, scoring 8 goals. He represented Oranje at Euro 2020 and the 2022 World Cup.
Dumfries will link up with Madrid’s pre-season tour in the United States next week.
