Inter's Ausilio Confirms Dumfries Exit, Jones Interest, Calhanoglu Stay

🇮🇹 7 June 2026
Piero Ausilio, sporting director of FC Internazionale Milano, confirmed Denzel Dumfries' departure to Real Madrid and said Inter are targeting Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones and Udinese centre‑back Oumar Solet. He also stated that Inter have no intention of letting Hakan Calhanoglu join Fenerbahce. Ausilio explained that Dumfries' release clause was triggered and that the Dutch wing‑back expressed a desire to leave. He wished Dumfries success at Real Madrid and acknowledged fan disappointment. Ausilio said Inter's interest in Curtis Jones dates back to January and that negotiations will be resumed if a common ground is found. He added that the club will explore other options should talks fail. Ausilio confirmed that Inter are monitoring Oumar Solet, citing his strong performances in Italy. He noted the need to reinforce the defence as the contracts of Matteo Darmian and Leonardo Acerbi are expiring. Inter have re‑signed Aleksandar Stankovic from Club Brugge, where the young Serbia international featured in the UEFA Champions League, and will give him a pre‑season audition under the supervision of Cristian Chivu. Ausilio highlighted that Stankovic will compete for a place alongside Massolin. Reports linked Fenerbahce with Hakan Calhanoglu, while earlier rumours involved Galatasaray, but Ausilio reiterated that Calhanoglu is under contract and Inter intend to keep him after last season's Serie A and Coppa Italia double. He joked that Besiktas might try next, but dismissed the notion that any club could simply buy the midfielder. Ausilio summed up Inter's transfer strategy as focused on securing a quality defender, retaining key talent, and navigating summer negotiations without losing core players. He emphasized that Inter will continue to act in the transfer market while protecting the squad's stability.
