Arsenal's Trossard poised for €20m Besiktas move as contract ends

🇬🇧

Leandro Trossard, entering the final year of his Arsenal contract, is set to leave the London club after a €20 million agreement with Turkish side Besiktas was reached, a deal that would recoup most of the €24 million Arsenal paid for him in January 2023.

Arsenal have been keen to avoid losing Trossard on a free transfer next summer, so they have pursued a sale as his contract enters its last year. A contract extension appears increasingly unlikely.

Besiktas and Trossard are still discussing personal terms, with reports suggesting a salary around €9 million per season. The negotiations indicate the deal is advanced but not yet finalised.

Trossard has placed the upcoming World Cup ahead of any club move, having been a regular selection for the Diables Rouges. His focus on the tournament underscores his priority over the transfer.

Besiktas aim to disrupt the Süper Lig hierarchy, where Fenerbahce and Galatasaray have traditionally dominated. The club sees the signing as a way to challenge those leaders.

If the transfer materialises, Trossard would join fellow Belgian forwards Michy Batshuayi and Dries Mertens, forming a trio of Belgian attackers at the Turkish club. This would mark the third Belgian striker added to Besiktas's roster.

The next few days will determine whether the €20 million deal is finalised, with both clubs monitoring the negotiations closely. A successful completion could reshape the attacking options for Besiktas and provide Arsenal with a substantial fee.
