Como’s €30m gamble to prise Chalobah from Chelsea
Como are preparing a new bid of €30 million plus €5 million in add-ons to sign Trevoh Chalobah from Chelsea, after two previous offers were rejected.
The Serie B side’s opening bid stood at €25 million plus €2 million in bonuses, but Chelsea countered with a demand of €30 million plus €5 million in add-ons. A second Como proposal of €28 million plus €2 million add-ons was also turned down.
Como’s latest move aims to bridge the gap between their valuation and Chelsea’s asking price. The Blues have consistently held firm on their valuation, leaving Como to adjust their offer upward.
Inter are seen as favourites to sign Chalobah, though Italian media report they have not yet made a formal proposal to Chelsea. Their approach appears to prioritise securing the player’s agreement before engaging in negotiations with the club.
The tug-of-war between Como and Inter reflects a broader pattern of competition between the two clubs for multiple transfer targets this summer. Chalobah is the latest player caught in this crossfire.
Chelsea’s stance remains unchanged, with the club insisting on their valuation of €30 million plus €5 million in add-ons. The Blues’ refusal to lower their demands has forced Como to escalate their bid.
Sky Sport Italia and Calciomercato report that Como’s new bid could finally meet Chelsea’s requirements. The increased offer suggests a willingness to meet the Stamford Bridge side’s valuation.
For Chalobah, the situation remains unresolved, with his future still uncertain. The player’s fate now hinges on whether Chelsea accept Como’s latest proposal or whether Inter can intervene with their own bid.
