Haaland’s father leaves Madrid door ajar despite City contract until 2034

🇬🇧

Manchester City striker Erling Haaland remains under contract until 2034, yet his father Alfie Haaland has again raised the prospect of a future Real Madrid move.

Speaking ahead of Norway’s FIFA World Cup Round of 16 clash with Brazil, Alfie Haaland addressed his son’s situation, stating that Erling is “very happy at Manchester City” and committed to his long-term deal.

The Norwegian striker’s father, however, refused to close the door on a potential transfer, telling Mundo Deportivo: “I don’t want to say too much about the situation at other clubs.”

Alfie Haaland also acknowledged Erling’s ambition to play for Real Madrid, a club he described as a shared dream among elite footballers. “Everyone wants to play for Real Madrid and win the Champions League,” he said.

He added: “Would I like to see him at Real Madrid? Maybe, maybe. There’s always a chance in football; there are fantastic clubs in Spain and you never know.”

Despite the contract extension at Manchester City, Real Madrid have been linked with Haaland for years, with previous reports suggesting discussions during the club’s presidential election campaigns.

The speculation persists even as Haaland scored twice in Norway’s 2-1 win over Brazil in the FIFA World Cup Round of 16, securing a quarter-final place.

Alfie Haaland’s latest remarks come amid ongoing transfer chatter, though no immediate move is indicated by either party.

The Manchester City striker’s future remains a topic of debate, with his father’s comments ensuring the Madrid link stays alive in public discourse.

For now, Haaland remains focused on his club commitments, with his father stressing his satisfaction in England.

The Norwegian’s contract at Manchester City runs until 2034, yet the allure of Real Madrid continues to fuel transfer speculation.
