Merlin Röhl’s €25m Everton switch cements Premier League move
Everton have completed the permanent signing of Merlin Röhl from Freiburg for a reported €25m. The deal marks the end of a successful loan spell at Goodison Park last season, where Röhl impressed under David Moyes.
Having joined Freiburg from Ingolstadt in 2022 for €2.9m, Röhl spent three seasons in the Bundesliga, making 48 appearances. His development in Germany culminated in a loan to the Premier League, where he featured regularly for Everton.
The club confirmed in their statement that Röhl has signed a three-year contract, keeping him at Hill Dickinson until June 2029. Everton’s hierarchy, including Dick Hill, were involved in finalising the deal.
Brook Genene, representing Röhl’s interests, played a key role in facilitating the transfer. The agreement reflects Everton’s confidence in Röhl’s potential to contribute at the highest level.
For Röhl, the move represents a significant step in his career, transitioning from Bundesliga consistency to a permanent role in the Premier League. Everton, meanwhile, secure a player they clearly value highly after his loan success.
