Millwall's €6m pursuit of Club Brugge prodigy Mathis Servais

🇬🇧

KV Mechelen's 21‑year‑old midfielder Mathis Servais is set to join English second‑division side Millwall, with the Belgian club expected to receive between €3.5 million and €6 million, according to transfer reports. The deal could include bonuses that push the total fee toward the higher end of the range.

Last season KV Mechelen reached the Champions' Play‑offs for the first time, a milestone the club hopes to build on. The campaign raised questions about the team's future plans and potential player movements.

In their first pre‑season friendly, KV Mechelen beat second‑amateur side Rupel Boom 3‑0, with goals from Benito Raman, Maxim Kireev and 18‑year‑old Amine Ouahabi. The comfortable win suggests the squad can still compete for valuable deals in the Jupiler Pro League.

The club says it wants to stay near the top of the Jupiler Pro League and needs to cash in on the right players to keep building the squad. Maintaining a strong league position is presented as a key objective for the coming years.

Several players have attracted foreign interest, and Mathis Servais has now been added to that list. Transfer guru Sacha Tavolieri highlighted the growing attention on the midfielder.

"Millwall FC zet vol in op de komst van Mathis Servais! Millwall mikt op een recordtransfer en onderhandelt met KV Mechelen over een deal ter waarde van ongeveer 6 miljoen euro", wrote Sacha Tavolieri on social media. The comment underscores Millwall's ambition to secure the player.

A five‑year contract is ready for Servais, but he has yet to give a final answer. Whether he will accept the terms remains to be seen.

Servais, a product of Club Brugge with a previous spell at Beveren, is listed by Transfermarkt with a market value of €4 million, meaning Millwall would exceed that valuation. The discrepancy highlights the potential profit for KV Mechelen.

If Mechelen secures at least €6 million, the windfall could fund future signings and sustain their ambition in the Jupiler Pro League.
