Newcastle agree €50m fee for Ivory Coast winger Touré
Newcastle United have agreed a €50 million fee for Bazoumana Touré, the 20-year-old Ivorian winger who featured at the recent World Cup.
The Magpies confirmed the signing from TSG Hoffenheim, though the length of Touré’s contract has not been disclosed. Reports in England and Germany had previously suggested a €50 million transfer sum, which Newcastle has now made official.
Touré arrives as Newcastle’s left-wing options are reshaped: Anthony Gordon has left for FC Barcelona, creating space for the Ivorian to step in. The move follows a season in which Touré made 30 Bundesliga appearances for Hoffenheim, contributing five goals and twelve assists.
At the World Cup, Touré started for Ivory Coast in their opening group match against Ecuador and featured as a substitute against Curaçao and Norway. His inclusion in the squad underscored his rapid rise since moving to Europe only two years ago.
Hoffenheim paid €10 million for Touré from Swedish club Hammarby IF in 2023, after Hammarby had signed him from ASEC Mimosas for under €500,000 in 2022. The pathway from ASEC Mimosas to TSG Hoffenheim to Newcastle spans just two years.
Newcastle’s investment reflects the premium placed on young attacking talent with World Cup experience. The club’s recruitment strategy continues to prioritise high-potential wingers, even as established options depart.
