Portsmouth land Eoin Kenny: the Championship’s next young attacking talent

🇬🇧

Portsmouth have completed the signing of 20-year-old forward Eoin Kenny from League of Ireland Premier Division side Dundalk.

The deal, struck for an undisclosed fee, sees Kenny commit to a three-year contract at Fratton Park.

Kenny arrives as Portsmouth’s second summer addition, following the arrival of midfielder Odin Bailey last week.

During his time at Dundalk, Kenny made 94 appearances, scoring 22 goals and providing 15 assists.

His development has included a loan spell at Wexford FC in 2023, where he featured 12 times and scored twice.

Kenny progressed through Dundalk’s academy before making his first-team debut in 2023.

Portsmouth manager John Mousinho expressed confidence in Kenny’s potential, telling the club website: "I'm excited to see Eoin continue the impressive development he has made over the past few years."

"We feel that he can do exactly that in this environment and has all the attributes you need to succeed in the Championship."

Mousinho added: "He's a young attacking player who is capable of getting fans off their seats with the way he likes to take on opposition defenders."

The Pompey squad are currently back for pre-season, preparing with a training camp in the Republic of Ireland.

This move marks Portsmouth’s second acquisition in the summer transfer window, following Bailey’s arrival earlier in the week.
