Record fee sparks Brighton & Hove Albion’s push for WSL talent
The 23‑year‑old winger Sophie Peskett has completed a permanent move to Brighton & Hove Albion, announced on the Seagulls’ official website earlier today. The Ipswich Town product joins the Sussex side after seven seasons with the Tractor Girls, bringing a record‑fee transfer to the club.
The Seagulls confirmed the signing via a post on their club website earlier today. The Tractor Girls received a club‑record transfer fee from the Sussex side for Peskett’s services.
Peskett departs Ipswich Town after 127 appearances across all competitions. She helped the club secure two promotions through the FA Women’s National League system.
In the previous campaign she featured in 21 Barclays WSL2 matches, netting five goals. Her contribution highlighted a decent return of goals and assists.
Head coach Dario Vidošić said, “Sophie is a good attacking outlet – she got a decent return of goals and assists last season in WSL2.” He added, “We believe she can make the step up to the WSL and we’re excited to give her the platform to test herself at the highest level.”
Peskett becomes Brighton & Hove Albion’s fifth signing of the summer transfer window. The acquisition underscores the club’s intent to strengthen its squad for the upcoming WSL season.
