Tottenham Need Draw Against Everton to Secure Premier League Survival

🇬🇧 22 May 2026

Danny Murphy says Tottenham must secure at least a draw against Everton on Sunday to virtually guarantee their Premier League status. A point would leave the club comfortably above the relegation zone.

Spurs currently sit two points ahead of West Ham United in the table. If Tottenham fail to collect any points and the Hammers either draw or win, the North London club could slip into the drop zone.

The upcoming fixture against Everton therefore carries significant weight for both teams. A draw would be sufficient for Tottenham, while a win would secure their safety outright.

Tottenham's recent form offers little reassurance. They suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat to Chelsea on Tuesday night.

Murphy believes Roberto de Zerbi's side will be disappointed not to have clinched safety before the weekend. The loss to Chelsea underscored the fine margins remaining in their survival battle.

Everton, meanwhile, remain in the lower half of the table and will be eager to pick up points. Their own survival hopes hinge on the same result.

Looking ahead, Tottenham must aim for at least a point in the Sunday clash to keep their Premier League future secure. The outcome will shape the final weeks of the season for both clubs.
