Ligue 1

After Chelsea exit, Liam Rosenior takes charge at Paris FC

🇫🇷
Former Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior has been appointed as the new head coach of Ligue 1 side Paris FC. The 41-year-old has signed a two-year contract, with the French club announcing his arrival on Tuesday following the departure of previous boss Antoine Kombouare. Rosenior’s swift return to French football follows his dismissal from Chelsea in April after a turbulent 106-day spell. During his brief tenure at Stamford Bridge, he managed just 11 wins in 23 matches. Prior to his Chelsea appointment, Rosenior had left Strasbourg in January, where he guided the team to a seventh-place finish in Ligue 1 and secured European competition for the first time in eight years. Paris FC confirmed Rosenior’s arrival in a statement describing him as "fully in line" with the club’s "philosophy and sporting project." Sporting director Marco Neppe highlighted Rosenior’s credentials, calling him a "modern, demanding coach" with a proven ability to develop players and unite groups around a clear vision. Rosenior responded with enthusiasm, saying: "I’m so happy to be the new coach of Paris FC. I can’t wait to get started with the players. I want my team to enjoy playing football, to show and express themselves and play with intensity and enthusiasm." His Chelsea tenure began promisingly after Enzo Maresca’s sudden departure on New Year’s Day but quickly deteriorated into five consecutive league defeats without scoring, ending his short-lived reign. Paris FC, newly promoted to France’s top flight last season for the first time since 1979, had earlier parted ways with promotion-winning coach Stéphane Gilli amid a poor run of form. Antoine Kombouare, a former Paris Saint-Germain boss, steered the club to an 11th-place finish but Paris FC has now opted for a fresh direction under Rosenior’s leadership. The club’s statement concluded by thanking Kombouare for his contributions during his time at the club.
