Ajax and Parma chase Anderlecht’s Stroeykens as Serie A rivals line up
Brussels, late Tuesday night. The Belgian capital’s football corridors buzzed with a single name: Mario Stroeykens. Reports emerged that Ajax had joined the chase for the Anderlecht midfielder, 21-year-old Belgian has also caught the eye of Serie A side Parma, notes, with multiple clubs now circling.
Nicolò Schira confirmed Ajax’s interest in Stroeykens, adding that the Belgian’s profile has expanded beyond the Dutch club. Parma, already tracking Stroeykens since winter, now sees him as a fallback option if their primary target, Gabriel Strefezza, fails to leave Olympiakos. A Stroeykens move to Italy would directly compete with Ajax’s ambitions in Brussels.
A summer exit from Anderlecht is now a realistic scenario. Stroeykens endured a difficult season marked by injury setbacks, yet retains a reputation as a technically gifted midfielder with untapped potential. His consistent performances have drawn attention from several foreign clubs, with Ajax and Parma leading the pursuit.
The Anderlecht midfielder has made 162 appearances for the club, contributing 17 goals and 16 assists during his tenure. His blend of creativity and resilience, despite recent physical challenges, has kept him high on multiple managerial wish lists across Europe’s top leagues.
