Arsenal firm on £51.3m defender
Arsenal are holding firm on their stance regarding defender Piero Hincapie, despite Real Madrid's £51.3m interest. The Ecuador international has been a key player for Arsenal, providing tactical flexibility and reliability on the left side of defence.
Hincapie arrived at Arsenal on loan from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer of 2025 and quickly became important, helping the team win the Premier League and reach the Champions League final.
Arsenal had already decided to make Hincapie's move permanent, activating the option to do so from July 1. According to Graeme Bailey, Arsenal have no intention of letting Hincapie go, despite interest from other clubs.
The club's stance is understandable, given Hincapie's value to the team and the importance of depth in defence for a squad competing on multiple fronts.
Mikel Arteta's squad planning is also a factor, with Myles Lewis-Skelly expected to spend more time in midfield, making Hincapie's versatility even more valuable.
From an Arsenal perspective, this is a positive development, indicating that the club is no longer willing to act as a feeder club for Europe's established giants.
The message from Arsenal is clear: Hincapie is wanted, useful, and important, and the club will not be swayed by interest from other clubs.
