Barcelona cuts ties with prodigy as Monaco secures permanent deal

🇪🇸

Barcelona and Monaco have finalized a permanent transfer for 23‑year‑old forward Ansu Fati, ending his loan spell at the French club after the 2025‑26 season; the move follows his 123 appearances and 29 goals for Barcelona’s first team in La Liga.

Barcelona announced the agreement on Tuesday, but did not disclose the financial terms. The club confirmed it will retain a percentage of any future sale of Fati.

Ansu Fati joined Barcelona’s youth system at age ten in 2012. He made his senior debut in the 2019‑20 season at sixteen.

In 2019 he became one of the youngest players ever to score in La Liga for Barcelona. He also previously held the record as Spain’s youngest ever scorer.

During the second half of the 2023‑24 season, Fati featured for Premier League club Brighton. The stint gave him experience in England’s top flight.

The forward spent the entire 2025‑26 campaign on loan at Monaco before the permanent move was agreed. His loan spell paved the way for the transfer.

Barcelona’s statement thanked Fati for his commitment, dedication and contribution. The club wished him success both on and off the field.
