Extended loan to 2026/27 keeps Faivre at Auxerre amid coaching change

🇫🇷

Romain Faivre's loan has been extended until the end of the 2026/27 season, ensuring the 27‑year‑old French midfielder will remain at Ligue 1 side AJ Auxerre for another campaign. The move follows a productive second‑half spell where he made ten appearances and contributed two assists that helped the club secure top‑flight status.

Faivre joined AJ Auxerre on loan from AFC Bournemouth after spending the first half of the campaign in the Middle East. During the second half of last season he featured in ten matches for the Ligue 1 side. He recorded two assists and played a part in Auxerre retaining their top‑flight status for the upcoming season.

Negotiations over a renewal of the loan proved successful, securing Faivre’s stay for another year. The agreement contains no purchase option, mirroring the terms of the previous arrangement. The move also makes Faivre the first signing of Auxerre’s summer transfer window.

Faivre will not be reunited with former manager Christophe Pélissier, who left the club at the end of the campaign. His successor is former Southampton boss Will Still, appointed to guide the team forward. Will Still brings English Championship experience to the Ligue 1 outfit.

AFC Bournemouth remain the parent club, retaining Faivre’s registration while he continues his spell in France. The extension was confirmed by Luke Entwistle of GFFN. The French midfielder’s continued presence adds depth to Auxerre’s midfield as they prepare for the new season.
