Feyenoord’s transfer gamble: waiting on Read while eyeing Hansen

🇳🇱

Feyenoord must prepare for the possible exit of Givario Read while eyeing Danish right‑back Sabil Hansen as his replacement, with the Rotterdam club monitoring the Randers FC defender after a breakthrough season of 47 appearances, one goal, two assists and a €600,000 market value.

Sabil Hansen is a Danish youth international currently under contract with Randers FC, a club in his native Denmark. Tipsbladet describes him as one of Randers' most talented players with significant selling potential, and sporting director Søren Pedersen previously said a move to Feyenoord would be the most logical step.

Hansen can operate both as a right‑back and as a centre‑back, giving him tactical flexibility. In his breakthrough season he featured in 47 matches, contributed one goal and two assists, and his contract runs until the summer of 2027 with a market value of €600,000 contingent on the club securing a transfer fee for Givario Read. Read is currently linked with Bayern Munich and Manchester City, although no concrete deal has materialised.

After a training match against FC Dordrecht, Read said, “It can still go any way. But I don’t feel I have to or want to leave Feyenoord. Not at all.” His comments suggest that, despite external interest, he is not actively pursuing a move.

Earlier speculation also connected Feyenoord with VfL Wolfsburg defender Saël Kumbedi. That link, however, has not progressed beyond media reports.

The contrast between Read’s uncertain future and Hansen’s ready availability highlights Feyenoord’s need to balance immediate squad planning with long‑term replacement options. Should the club finalize a sale for Read, Hansen could become the next target to secure the right‑back position.
