Go Ahead Eagles eye left‑back boost with Manchester City signing

🇳🇱

Go Ahead Eagles have reached an agreement to sign 21‑year‑old left‑back Tomas Galvez from Manchester City, positioning him as the probable successor to Aske Adelgaard. The Finnish‑English international will undergo a medical on Monday, after which the Eredivisie club will complete the transfer.

Manchester City still hold Galvez under a two‑year contract, meaning the Dutch side will need to negotiate a transfer fee that has not been disclosed. The Premier League club retains the player’s registration until the deal is finalised.

Galvez spent the last eighteen months on loan at SC Cambuur, featuring in 51 matches in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie. During that spell he contributed six assists from the left flank.

Cambuur will not benefit from his services in the Eredivisie, as the loaned player will join Go Ahead Eagles instead. The move keeps the 21‑year‑old in the Dutch top flight.

At Go Ahead Eagles, Galvez will contest the left‑back position with Dean James. Both players will vie for the role at the club’s De Adelaarshorst stadium.

The signing follows the departure of Aske Adelgaard, who transferred to FC Twente earlier this season. Galvez is expected to fill the vacancy left by Adelgaard’s exit.

If his medical passes, Galvez will be ready for the start of the Eredivisie campaign, where his performances will be measured against James for regular minutes.
