Inter clinches Provedel for €3 million after UEFA settlement

🇮🇹

Inter Milan are on the verge of securing goalkeeper Ivan Provedel from Lazio for an agreed fee of around €3 million, with the player due to travel to Milan for a medical examination imminently, finalising a deal that runs to 2029.

The contract spans three years and is set at €1.5 million net per season, meaning Provedel will be on Inter's payroll until 2029 under the agreed terms.

Lazio originally demanded a fee closer to €4–5 million before both clubs converged on the €3 million valuation, indicating a significant negotiation gap that was eventually bridged.

Inter had identified Provedel as their primary goalkeeping target and secured personal terms before the club‑to‑club fee was settled; the process accelerated after the club cleared its UEFA Settlement Agreement obligations, freeing market capacity.

Sporting director Beppe Marotta’s staff had earmarked Olympiacos goalkeeper Konstantinos Tzolakis, a 2002‑born Greek international, as the fallback option should talks with Lazio collapse.

Provedel will serve as the experienced backup to Josep Martínez, completing the goalkeeping hierarchy overseen by Cristian Chivu, after Yann Sommer’s departure left the position vacant.

At €3 million for a goalkeeper with top‑flight Lazio experience, the Nerazzurri have addressed the vacancy at minimal cost, reflecting a prudent spending approach.

A formal announcement is expected within days once paperwork is exchanged, underscoring Inter’s ability to secure a quality keeper at low cost in the current market after resolving UEFA financial constraints.
