Klopp shuts down Germany coach speculation after World Cup exit

🇩🇪
Jürgen Klopp said he will not entertain any discussion about becoming Germany’s national team coach after the Die Mannschaft were knocked out of the World Cup on penalties against Paraguay, describing the timing as inappropriate. In an interview with MagentaTV, Klopp emphasized his current responsibilities and the recent defeat. The early knockout reignited debate over the Die Mannschaft’s coaching future. Julian Nagelsmann has publicly expressed a desire to remain as head coach, while several German media outlets suggest otherwise. Former international Mats Hummels is also listed among possible successors. Klopp, who currently serves as Head of Global Soccer at Red Bull, said he has not given any thought to the national team job. He told MagentaTV, “I understand my name is mentioned when the coach is discussed, but this is not the right moment to talk about it, especially not with me involved.” He added that he enjoys his current position, stating, “I have a job that I really enjoy.” The statement underscores his focus on his Red Bull responsibilities rather than a potential Germany role. Germany’s defeat came after a night of Monday‑to‑Tuesday play, with the match decided by a penalty shootout. The loss ended their World Cup campaign earlier than anticipated. Despite Klopp’s dismissal, speculation about who will replace Nagelsmann continues. The conversation is likely to persist as Germany looks to rebuild after the World Cup exit.
