Filipe Luís has signed a contract with AS Monaco that runs until June 2028, confirming his appointment as head coach just four months after his March departure from Flamengo. The Brazilian, who guided Flamengo to the 2025 Brazilian championship and Copa Libertadores, will take over the Ligue 1 side ahead of their upcoming Conference League playoff campaign.
Before moving into management, Filipe Luís enjoyed a playing career as a left back for Brazil, Atletico Madrid and Chelsea. His defensive experience across top European leagues is expected to influence his coaching style at Monaco.
At Flamengo, Luís steered the club to the 2025 Brazilian championship and secured the Copa Libertadores that same year. He also oversaw the team's participation in the Club World Cup last season.

The squad also includes highly rated French attacking midfielder Maghnes Akliouche, a product of the club's youth system. The Monegasque side finished seventh in Ligue 1 last season, missing out on direct European qualification. That position grants them a place in the Conference League playoff round scheduled for next month. With Luís' contract extending to mid-2028, Monaco aims to build continuity as they compete in the upcoming European fixtures.
