PSG turn to Italy’s Longoni as goalkeeper succession plan takes shape
Paris Saint-Germain have completed the signing of Italy youth international goalkeeper Alessandro Longoni on a five-year contract.
The 18-year-old, identified as one of Italy’s most promising prospects, arrived as a free agent after his departure from AC Milan in the summer transfer window.
Longoni’s move to Les Parisiens follows PSG’s decision to release third-choice goalkeeper Renato Marin, who has since joined Portugal’s CD Nacional on a season-long loan.
The Como-born goalkeeper has been assigned the number 16 shirt ahead of the new campaign.
PSG’s senior squad training sessions will include Longoni, though he is expected to feature primarily with the club’s U19 Espoirs team.
The club’s hierarchy views Longoni as a long-term option, with Matvey Safonov and France international Lucas Chevalier currently occupying the first and second goalkeeper roles.
Bastien Cheval has been retained as the third-choice option behind Safonov and Chevalier.
The transfer underscores PSG’s commitment to developing young Italian talent within their academy structure.
With the 2026-2027 season on the horizon, the Parisian club appears to be positioning Longoni as a future asset in goalkeeping succession planning.
