PSV's €13‑14m gamble: Sven Mijnans as the key summer target

🇳🇱
Sven Mijnans' move to PSV is set to be finalized after his medical in Eindhoven, with the Dutch club ready to offer a five‑year contract worth a €13‑14 million fee for the AZ attacking midfielder. The deal, expected to be signed at the Philips Stadion, follows intense interest from several European clubs. Mijnans impressed during his spell in Alkmaar, where he featured in fifty official matches last season, netting twenty‑one goals and providing nine assists. His attacking output and creative play have made him one of the most promising midfielders in the Eredivisie. PSV view him as a direct upgrade to their midfield options. The transfer fee is reported at thirteen to fourteen million euros, reflecting his market value after a breakthrough campaign. PSV have prepared a five‑year contract, signalling long‑term commitment. The club also faces competition from Ajax, Italian sides Como, Juventus, Bologna, AC Milan and AS Roma, as well as German outfits Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig. In Eindhoven, Mijnans will be reunited with Ruben van Bommel, who is already a PSV squad member. Their reunion adds a personal dimension to the transfer. Following the departure of Ismael Saibari to Bayern Munich, Mijnans becomes PSV's first major summer signing. PSV and AZ are scheduled to meet on 2 August for the Johan Cruijff Shield, where Mijnans could line up for the champions rather than the cup holders. For PSV, securing Mijnans adds depth and a proven goal contributor ahead of the new season. AZ, meanwhile, will receive a substantial fee while losing a key creative outlet.
