Roma chase left‑flank upgrade with Diego Moreira talks
AS Roma have opened talks with Strasbourg winger Diego Moreira, the 2004‑born prospect, as they look to shore up the left side of the pitch that coach Gian Piero Gasperini has identified as a priority. Strasbourg’s €40 million valuation is already being described as very high by the Italian side.
The Giallorossi are seeking a player who can raise both quality and depth on the left flank, a position the club feels is under‑served despite recent moves to strengthen the attack. This strategic focus complements the broader plan to add firepower up front while ensuring balance across the squad.
Diego Moreira, currently with Strasbourg, is praised for his technical abilities and promising development trajectory, making him an ideal candidate for the role. His profile matches the attributes Gasperini values in wide players.
Strasbourg values Moreira at around €40 million, a figure that AS Roma consider excessive. Sporting director Tony D’Amico is tasked with probing whether the French club will lower its financial demands to make the deal viable.
D’Amico has already reached out to Moreira’s entourage to confirm the player’s willingness to relocate to the capital and to discuss possible personal terms. The club hopes to secure a clear indication of interest before finalising any agreement.
While the priority remains signing Mason Greenwood to boost the attack, Roma do not want to be caught off guard in the positions highlighted by Gasperini. The management aims to complete at least one or two signings in the early weeks of summer preparations.
