Roma eye Pinamonti to secure Malen’s backup and boost attack
Andrea Pinamonti has been linked with a move to AS Roma as a potential backup for Dutch striker Donyell Malen, according to transfer reports. The interest comes as Roma looks to reinforce its attacking options ahead of the upcoming season.
Donyell Malen remains Roma’s primary attacking outlet, prompting the club to search for additional options. Roma are also targeting Dovbyk, with Genoa mentioned as a possible destination, and the loaned forward Vaz. The priority is a centre‑forward who can give Malen rest and provide an alternative if his form dips.
Beyond the Dovbyk‑Vaz duo, Roma have identified several forwards as potential replacements, especially if Greenwood departs after his stint at Girona. Among the names under surveillance is Andrea Pinamonti, whose familiarity with Serie A could ease a transition.
Roma and Porto circle Greenwood and Tavares as transfer chess continues
Lazio have also entered the race for Pinamonti, indicating competition for his signature. The striker concluded the last Serie A campaign with nine goals and four assists across 2,575 minutes of play. In the three seasons before, Pinamonti recorded double‑digit tallies of 13, 11 and 10 goals respectively, a level he has not reached this year. His experience in the Italian top flight makes him a low‑risk acquisition for the Giallorossi. If Roma secure Pinamonti, the club would add depth to its forward line and secure a ready alternative for Malen. For the Sassuolo forward, a move would mean leaving his current side for a team competing in European competitions.
