Standard's new partnership promises talent pipeline from Habay

Standard Liège has formalised a partnership with D1 Amateur side Habay-La-Neuve, announced this week, linking the clubs' academies and coinciding with the transfer of Antoine Mazure, who recorded 15 goals and 13 assists in 26 matches for Habay in the Belgian Division 1 FFA.

Mazure's résumé includes spells in the French lower leagues with Aurillac, Bourges and Moulins‑Yzeure before a stint at Luxembourg side Progrès Niederkorn. Habay-La-Neuve secured his services from Progrès, completing the transfer this week.

At Standard's SL 16 squad, Mazure will serve as an experienced figure among the young Rouches. His presence is intended to accelerate the development of the academy's emerging talent.

The partnership grants Habay coaches access to training sessions at Standard's Sart‑Tilman facilities. Subsequent meetings with Standard educators aim to enhance the Habay staff's coaching competencies.

A Detect Day is scheduled for October, giving Standard priority to scout promising Belgian prospects. The southern talent pool has already produced Pro League players such as Thomas Meunier, Anthony Moris and Guillaume François.

"Une collaboration qui s'inscrit pleinement dans notre volonté de continuer à faire grandir notre académie et à offrir le meilleur environnement de formation à jeunes. Merci au SL 16 Football Campus ainsi qu'à toutes les personnes ayant contribué à cette collaboration, au service de la formation de jeunes", wrote Habay-La-Neuve. The statement underscores the mutual ambition of both clubs.

Next season Habay and SL 16 will clash again in D1 FFA, with a warm reunion anticipated for Mazure. The continued interaction reflects the partnership's long‑term vision.
