Why Luton Town bet on Kasey Palmer to boost their attack

Luton Town moved quickly to fill a midfield goal‑scoring void after finishing seventh in League One, turning to a familiar face who proved his worth on loan. The 29‑year‑old Jamaican international Kasey Palmer, who netted eight times in 23 games, secured a permanent move.

Luton Town identified a need for a proven midfielder who can add goals from midfield, a gap highlighted by their seventh‑place finish. Palmer’s eight goals in 23 appearances during his loan spell demonstrated the impact the club sought.

During his loan, Palmer helped Jack Wilshire’s side lift the EFL Trophy at Wembley in April. The cup triumph complemented the club’s solid league performance and underscored his contribution to Luton’s recent success.

Luton Town completed a permanent transfer for Kasey Palmer from Hull City for an undisclosed fee. The move formalises the loan that began in the second half of the 2025‑26 season.

Palmer began his professional career at Chelsea before spells at Bristol City and Coventry City. He joined Hull City in August 2024, adding further experience before returning to Luton.

"I'm so happy to be back, although as everyone has seen from my socials, I've never really been away," Palmer said on the club’s website. "I loved every minute of my time here last season.
